ARTIST STATEMENT

I'm interested in staged photography. I enjoy directing a scene; selecting the model, costume, light and environment to communicate an idea or emotion. My intention is to create a series of images that become a narrative.

Most recent is a departure from my narrative images and instead, explores the element of texture in common places. My intention is for the viewer to experience a tactile response while viewing my images. I'm calling these "barefoot experiences" because the viewer will be asked to step onto a particular textured surface barefoot while viewing the photograph above it. My intention is to encourage the viewer to experience the combination (sometimes complimentary, sometimes contradictory) of the visual image and the actual texture they are standing on.
